Hello and thank you for visiting my website! My name is Kay Wagstaff and I am known as “The Quirky Cook”.
I formed my company back in October 2008 as it seemed a natural progression to take my years of cooking and baking for family and friends to another level. Since starting up my food business at home in Borrowash, I have established myself as a respected producer of quality foods. I am professionally trained and qualified to a “Highly Commended” level in Foundation Cordon Bleu cuisine; registered with Erewash Borough Council and hold a five star rating within their Hygiene Rating Scheme.
My passion for cooking has evolved from a background of being surrounded by good wholesome home-cooking and baking.
From childhood, I remember the simple, satisfying family meals, sitting at the kitchen table enjoying produce from our garden or the gardens and greenhouses of friends, neighbours and relatives – not to mention the fields and hedgerows!
Over the years, I developed a more adventurous side to my cooking - influenced by the culinary skills of Graham Kerr (The Galloping Gourmet), Delia Smith, Gary Rhodes and the television series “Masterchef”. However, I still continue to produce great traditional favourites throughout the year, including my delicious Figgy Puddings and Plum Puddings at Christmas.
All my dishes are produced from scratch, using local produce wherever possible – sourced from nearby farms, farm shops and butchers - and with a seasonal focus. I take great pride in my produce and its quality. You only get out what you put in!
It gives me a great sense of satisfaction to know the food I produce gives such pleasure. I also try to share my experiences and knowledge and recently became a mentor with the University of Derby's Employer Mentoring Scheme.
So go on, treat yourself…….I can guarantee that once you have tasted my products, you will want to return for more!
