I formed theQuirkyCook in October 2008. It seemed a natural progression to take years of cooking and baking for friends and family to a professional level.
My passion for cooking evolved from being surrounded by good wholesome home-cooking and baking. Looking back on my childhood, I remember sitting around the kitchen table enjoying meals cooked with ingredients that had been foraged, picked from our garden or sourced from the gardens and greenhouses of neighbours and relatives. I was the little girl who loved to cook…often watching and helping Mum in the kitchen, or sitting for hours flicking through her cookery books.
I soon developed a more adventurous side to my cooking, influenced by the culinary skills of Graham Kerr “The Galloping Gourmet”, Delia Smith, Gary Rhodes and the television series “Masterchef” but I never lost my passion for simple wholesome food. In later years, Marco Pierre White became my all-time food hero and that remains to this day.
Over a decade, I have established myself as a respected artisan food producer, mostly self-taught with some professional training.
I continue to hold the same ethos as I was taught in my early years. Products are made from scratch, using the purest of ingredients to ensure little or no artificial preservatives or allergens are present. No artificial colours, flavours or sweeteners are added. Most of my range is suitable for vegans and vegetarians and gluten-free.
I enjoy transforming natural ingredients into something very special.
